This tall chair with a broad base for extra stability for use at kitchen counters and as a bar stool. The seat is made of solid Eastern White Pine. Turnings and back slat are hard maple. Kit includes sandpaper, Medium Stain, hardware, and simple step-by-step instructions. Available with Medium stain as shown.

At the Canterbury, New Hampshire Shaker community, the large Shaker hand looms required chairs with high seats, so the weavers could sit close to their work. The same chairs were also used at shop desks, laundry and ironing tables, and tailors' counters. Today, they are wonderfully suited for use as counter chairs or bar stools in the kitchen or family room. An example of the Shakers' ability to combine utility with beauty. The original is in a private collection in Massachusetts. We make the Weaver's Chair in clear hard maple for strength. Height of back is 39". Width 18 3/4". Depth 14". Shown in Medium Stain with Lacquer Finish; woven in 1" Navy Blue chair tape in a checkerboard pattern. |
| Each furniture kit contains all materials needed, except the final finish, including sandpaper, hardware, and simple step-by-step instructions. Kits are supplied with Medium Wiping Stain. Over the stain, a final finish is required. Your local hardware store can supply varnish (ask for satin or eggshell). |
This ingenious revolving chair was the forerunner of the modern-day office chair. It was first produced at the Shakers' Mount Lebanon, New York chair factory about 1860.
Height of seat can vary from 17 1/2" to 21 1/2".
Bent back is an additional 10 1/4" high.
Seat diameter is 15 1/2".

The front leg is dovetailed to the top and braced to the back to give it great rigidity. When not in use it can be hung on a wall peg or it can grace the corner of a room.
